High blood pressure often causes no symptoms
High blood pressure can go unnoticed for a long time, because it often causes no obvious symptoms. Feeling generally well does not always mean that the readings are in a healthy range. Measuring blood pressure is an important step in finding it and following it.
Blood pressure that stays high for a long time raises the risk of disease of the heart, brain and kidneys. If high readings keep coming back, see a doctor for an assessment and to agree on the next steps.
Less salt, regular movement, stopping smoking and keeping a suitable body weight can help to control blood pressure. If treatment has been prescribed, take it as instructed and do not change it on your own, even when the readings improve.
